More about the magnets we make
We believe our magnet production capabilities and customer relationships represent a competitive moat unique in the West. Historically, with low-cost capacity as the main rare-earth magnet demand driver, our operations remained sub-scale relative to those in China. The re-alignment of market incentives since 2025 creates a significant opportunity for EM&T to scale production, demand, capacity and related investment. Product Categories
EM&T makes sintered and bonded neodymium-iron-boron magnets in South Korea, from metal and alloy its subsidiaries produce or source outside China.
Certified sintered grades
In June 2026 two global Tier-1 electronics OEMs completed quality certification of six EM&T sintered grades: N48M, N50M, N42H, N45H, N35SH and N46SH. The super-high-temperature grades incorporate heavy rare earths including dysprosium. Grade 42SH is in commercial production and grade 48SH is in the final stage of customer certification.
Bonded magnets
Our subsidiaries have produced bonded magnets for automotive, appliance and industrial customers for more than 18 years.
Operations
EM&T's operating subsidiaries in South Korea run the full sequence from NdPr metal to finished magnet. Their feedstock, capacity and planned lines are summarised below.
Feedstock
EM&T does not mine. Its NdPr metal is supplied under contract by SRE Vietnam, a subsidiary of Japan's Tokai Trading, with the first delivery received in July 2026, and its Gunsan subsidiary produces NdFeB alloy and powder.
Capacity
About 1,000 tons a year today. Thirteen ULVAC sintered-magnet production machines are scheduled for delivery and installation by November 2026, intended to take annual capacity to approximately 10,000 tons, including about 6,000 tons of sintered magnets.
Planned lines
Beyond magnets, EM&T intends to develop battery-grade materials and precious metals recovery from end-of-life material. These lines are planned and do not yet generate revenue. See our planned facilities. (Link "See our planned facilities" to /operational-elements.)
